Drawing on a critical examination of both theory and empirical research, how can the role of leadership be best understood in organizational change?

Key to evolution of an Organization is how well it can adapt to changes:
be it structural or financial. A good leadership plays a pivotal role in such transitions and will often be the most influential aspect in changes being implemented successfully. Choosing the right style, based on the situation, and working as a team to implement the change is the secret to success.   There are several existing styles of leadership which have been tested in various situations and have either been considered effective or not so effective. Transformational Leadership is one such style which has been in the limelight in the recent past. In the present economic times an organization undergoes changes ‘n’ number of times and I believe, to bring in every change successfully, Transformational Leadership can be looked upon with an optimistic approach. In this essay, I will be discussing, Transformational style of Leadership, how, I believe it can be implemented in an Organizational Change,   and why is it the best possible style of leadership, depending on the situation to bring a change on.
Considering the fact that both Organizational Change and Leadership are
very widely defined, for the purpose of the essay I would like to use the following definitions, Leader is a person with “vision, energy, authority, and strategic direction...” – ref: (Robert Coffee and Gareth Jones, 2000), Organizational Change is “the process of continually renewing an organization’s direction, structure, and capabilities to serve the ever-changing needs of external and internal customers”- ref: (Moran and Brightman, 2001).
