A leader must know his people and be able to have trust in his men to accomplish a mission or do a simple task without the fear or doubt that something will keep his men from succeeding. Drugs will cause that downfall of a leader and can lead to situation where human life is sacrificed. another responsibility that a leader has is to uphold the standard of the unit and not demonstrate bad examples and in the end will result in the downfall of his or her respect. another aspect that a good leader should have and demonstrate is that of a good citizen. a leadership should portray the highest level of citizenship. Being a good citizen means obeying the laws of the community you live in and enforcing them to a certain degree as well. The use of drugs is illegal nation wide and so a leader is not setting the proper example or being a good citizen if he or she participates in the use, sale, or is associated with drugs. A leader should not order or tell his subordinates to do anything in which he can not do or does himself. If a leader explains the hazards of drug use and why not to use or be associated with them he should follow his or her advice. This leads right into how to communicate with ones subordinates on how not to and why not to use drugs. One thing I have to be aware of is the power that comes with being a leader and how it involves behavior management. An effective leader has to understand the power one possesses and do right by it. Participants will envy the power I have not because I am abusing it but because the power is there. In certain situations when I am giving out commands some people can take it the wrong way and begin to disregard. It takes a self-disciplined leader to understand the situation and not act out of character. The goal is to create a positive atmosphere at all times even when a subject wants to challenge…

Leadership in its simplest form is influence. Influence is defined as, “The act or power of producing an effect without apparent exertion of force or direct exercise of command,” or, “The power or capacity of causing an effect in indirect or intangible ways.” This is making a difference in the actions and even thought process of the people around you, without trying. I believe this makes anyone and everyone capable of being or becoming a leader and therefore obliges us to act and live in a responsible way so we are a positive influence on those under our leadership and set a good example for those who are looking to us. We do not even realize who we may have an effect. It is our responsibility as leaders to constantly be checking our attitudes and checking how our influence is affecting those around us. Asking, ‘Is my attitude helping to make my environment a better place or making it a worse place?’…

There are many types of leaders in the world, but the type of leader that I want to be is a type of monarchic leader. This is because I want to solve problems efficiently. For instance, if a group of people are the leaders they would discuss and argue about the problems, but this method is to slow which never really solves the problem when it needs to be solve. However, if it was a single person that was the leader the problem would be solved quickly and efficiently. I do wish to be a more of a singular leader but that does not mean I will be like a dictator over my group I still plan to listen to opinions of other group members. For example, if there was a problem in the community I might take a type of poll to see the opinions of the people and make a decision from what I heard for the betterment of the community. I still want to listen to others, but the decision would ultimately be mine. Also as a single leader I don’t want to force people to listen to me. I want to be charismatic leader so that they want to follow and believe in me. Overall, I would prefer to be a singular type of leader. I would be able to solve problems efficiently on my own, but still listen and lead the people in a way where they feel heard a listened to.…
