You are a member of the Learning and Development function in the Personnel Department of a health care organisation. You have been given the task of developing a training programme to improve leadership and management in the organisation. The written materials which you will produce for this training programme need to be submitted to the head of the Learning and Development function for approval, so it is essential that you complete the tasks to the highest standard.
The first part of the material will take the form of a hand-out on leadership and management theories. The hand-out must include an:
• analysis of the concepts of leadership and management. • evaluation of the key management and leadership theories. • assessment of the challenges of leadership and management practice.
The second part of the training and development materials is a booklet which will be issued to the participants in the programme. There are 3 sections to this booklet.
• The first part is an analysis of the key motivational theories and how they influence organisational success. • The second part is an evaluation of the role of leadership and management in employee motivation. • The final part is an analysis of the contribution of performance management techniques as organisational processes.
