Leadership
PTMNGT – Week: 5
Leadership:
Being part of a retail organisation comes with many challenges. One of those is definitely managing the biggest company resource, people. This is one of the most difficult tasks being a manager in such a dynamic environment.
One such manager that stands out in our organisation is our operations manager. He is young dynamic, energetic, focussed, receiving, goal orientated, full of new ideas and in touch with what exactly is happening on ground level.
As competition is very rigorous in our retail sector with other big companies that input very big amounts into publicity and marketing, our operations manager stays in touch will a vast majority of people that are in touch with the latest trends in the market.
An excellent trait of David is his willingness to listen to the people who interact with the day to day happenings, not isolating himself from what happens on the forefront of business and due to his always available and helpful personality he creates a very important, clear channel of communication that leads to a managing style, that is not very far off the similarity of discussing your frustrations with a friend, without him holding your viewpoints, frustration, and day to day business experience against you.
Without this special channel of communication, a multitude of negative situations happen within your organization of which you will either net hear directly or will find our when it is to late already.
Early in his days of only being a student and contributing to a one shop business that changed over as little as 10 years into our current company, by selling the products to his fellow students, he not only started on ground zero, but also was he willing to share in a dream, that he knew has the potential to develop into something very big. What he possibly did not realise back then, was that, largely due to his input, growth, development and commitment, he contributed largely to what the company is today, which

Everyone has probably played the game "Follow the Leader" back in elementary school. It is a game where the leader stands in front of the line. He or she can say or do anything, and her followers (standing in a straight line behind her) must repeat exactly the same thing he or she does or says. Whoever was picked to be the leader must have loved the experience because one had the freedom to do whatever they please, while others followed miserably or happily depending on what the leader is saying or doing. However, if one was the follower, one would wait anxiously to be the next chosen leader. At the same time, one must somehow express his or her self in a fashion that will make them stand out from the rest of the students. Whether he or she is perfectly imitating the leader or behaving really respectfully of others. Nonetheless, who determines who should be the leader? What kind of characteristics must a leader possessed? What makes a great leader (Robbins, 2005)? Is there only one kind leadership? These questions will be answered as you continue to read on. In addition, you will come across case studies, real life experiences, and my own observation on how leaders in my work setting exhibit leadership behavior and how followers respond to it.…

Good leaders are made not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never-ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. There are some concepts about leadership in the world, some people think leaders are born, and some people believe that leaders are made. If employees believe that leaders are born and not made, it may be demoralising. Some people may have the inherent qualities to become leaders, but they may not have developed their leadership because nobody else has ever noticed potential leadership qualities in them. Leaders move out of comfort zones.…

Leadership, a term that anyone can define and few show. Like the great Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Anyone can say what they feel about a situation but a leader will examine the way you feel and the way others feel about the situation and make choices based on all factors. A leader must be able to say “I do not like what is going on here” and be able to step up and take charge and fix problems.…

After implementing his idea, we were required to install temperature indicators in only one transformer out of eleven.
