When I founded Siegel & Gale 35 years ago in my apartment on East 74th Street in
New York City, Bob Gale and I focused on developing classic “corporate identity”
programs—new names for merged corporations with stylized corporate trademarks.
The centerpiece of every program was a three-ring binder, with all the specifications
that would systematically enable a company to transform its look.

We soon became frustrated with the limitations of this rigid system. Companies wanted to change how they were perceived—but while they could look different, they didn’t act different. Corporate communications and marketing remained in specialized silos, removed from the “real business.” We were convinced that more was possible.

We spent the next three decades breaking new ground, generating new ideas to help
our clients truly transform how their companies are perceived, differentiate themselves from their competition, and achieve their business objectives. We realized that
communications aren’t just about the company—today, communications often are the company, in the eye of its customers, shareholders, and employees.
