Strategies Interview

Choose at least five of the questions below for your interview. You may ask more than five questions if you want. Be sure to record the answers as you conduct the interview.

1. Have you taken the Standardized Test? If so, in what state and when?
I have taken the FCAT, ACT, and SAT. ACT and SAT are world wide and the FCAT is for the state of Florida only. I had to take these standardized tests through out high school.

2. What type of calculator do you think can be used on the Standardized Test?
For the FCAT you use a 4 function calculator provided to you during testing. The ACT and SAT allow you to use a 4 function calculator and a scientific calculator.

3. What are some test-taking strategies you remember using when you were in school?
Making outlines and creating flash cards I found to be really effective.

4. What do you think are some good test-taking strategies for the Standardized Test?
I study differently for different subjects. On the ACT or SAT standardized tests they consist of 4 or 5 different subjects to study for.

5. Why is it important to read test questions carefully?
Reading the test questions carefully can help you locate the answer faster. If you read the question to fast or don't fully understand it, it can make you more unsure of the correct answer.

From the interviewee I learned that each subject has it's own individual way of studying for. The use of calculators are useful during the math portion of the standardized tests. Reading the test question carefully is a big part in taking/passing the test because if you interrupt the question the wrong way it can lead to the wrong answer. Creating new ways to study the material; such as outlines and flash cards, help with the studying process for any standardized test. [continues]
