IMPACT OF JET

To investigate the validity of theoretical expressions of the force exerted by a jet on targets with various shapes.
1. The top plate (by realizing knurled nuts) and transparent was removed from the jet impact test rig and the exit diameter of the nozzle was checked. One of the four deflectors was fitted. 2. The accessory was reassembled and the channel of the hydraulic bench was located. The inlet tube was connected to the bench snap connector. The test rig top plate was ensured by adjusting the supporting feet. 3. The height of the level gauge was adjusted until it aligns with the datum line on the weight pan. The position was correctly checked by gently oscillating the pan. 4. The mass 50 kg was placed on the weight pan and the bench valve was opened to produce a flow. The valve position was adjusted until the static equilibrium was achieved with the weight pan datum line aligned with the level gauge. It was checked again by gently oscillating the pan. 5. The measurement of volume flow rate was taken using the volumetric tank. This was achieved by closing the ball valve and measuring (with a stop watch) the time taken to accumulate a known volume of fluid in tank. (The measurement was repeated twice to check for accuracy and consistency for average readings) 6. Another 50g mass was added on the weight pan and the procedure was repeated until 300g mass applied to the weight pan. The readings was recorded on the table.
