Technology of 21st Century

Technology is different types of devices and products that everyone uses nowadays, whether it's internet, cell phones, to social networking and Skype. Technology is the easier way to discover and do things basing off knowledge, connecting and interacting with society, personal, school, and working lives. Technology has differed over the years, growing into bigger and better things. It has made life simpler each day, giving us a more organized way to get tasks done. The best part about technology is that it can be mobile for example, ever need to search something up or use GPS navigation to find a place or pay a bill quickly? We wouldn't be able to get the job done in a no sweat manner without technology. Like everything else, there are different brands, models, and types of each and every device and product. But as much as we love technology, just like anything else, it all has its pros and cons. Internet is easy access, having all information from every sort of perspective throughout the world. The speed of it is crazy because anything can be accessed within seconds. Communication is key, which is why internet makes it so simple to communicate globally whether someone you know such as family, friends, associates, etc. is located in a different place than you. Internet gives you different types of applications whether its email, games, hyperlinks, and such. You can access multimedia such as movies, music, and pictures without having to search too hard for it. In this day of age, internet is very convenient to purchasing things like material objects, any type of tickets like airline or concert tickets, electronics, etc. Another plus of the internet is receiving the latest news of what is going on throughout the world or locally and the weather. Internet can have its bad side too. It's complicated to know how much information you receive on the internet is true or not. We all have a right to free speech but anyone can post anything about anyone on the internet which can be very insulting because anyone can see that which leads into bullying. Saved passwords and entered information on the internet can ruin someone's life because it isn't secured enough and hacking is common these days. Finding exact information can also be a con because there is so much on the internet. Internet can become an addiction because people spend chunks of time on it without realizing it. A cell phone is a mobile device that mostly everyone carries around on them every day. Without cell phones, life would be difficult to keep in touch with others. Unlike house phones, it gives the less awkward time to respond to someone else by sending a text message. We spend time out of our day to chat with family and friends that are in different places or environments being long distance or short distance. The smart phones even have GPS tracking and internet access. This gives a less complex way of how to get where and to somewhere and finding information on a lighter note. Another pro is being able to stay safe. For example, if you feel threatened by something or someone, you can pick up your phone and call someone for help. Emergency services are on any working or non-working phone, simply by pressing a minimum of three buttons. Another way of knowing you’re in good hands is if you're having car troubles or being lost, calling or texting always wins the situation. The cons come into play of the cell phones when people make you feel obligated to respond back at any given time. This could mean your family and friends being on your back or even school and work constantly expecting to answer no matter what, not knowing what you're doing or where you are. Creating a contract with cell phone companies can also be harmful because you might want to switch off to something else but you must wait till the timing of the contract is over. They can also have hidden fees or unexpectedly charge more on features which is why taking your time to review bills, contracts, and plans should always take place. The most negative con is using a cell phone at the wrong times. Because of cell phones, many car accidents have to do with being distracted of these devices being texting or being on the phone. Cell phones can be a great distraction at environments like school and work. Someone can easily lose all focus while being in class or doing school work. Lastly, most jobs don't allow cell phones to be out therefore the ones who disobey the rule have a chance of being fired.

Everyone reads every day, being books, magazines, etc. One of the latest technologies to come out is the eBooks which are tablets that allow you to buy any type of book and read it on a touch screen device. This tablet gives you a chance to functions such as zooming in, letting resizing, etc. that a normal book won't let you do. You can even have more than one book on eBooks without having to carry multiple books in your hand. They are easy to carry around. They help the environment by giving not killing trees for each and every book. You can take notes in this carry around tablet that is in a more organized manner. You can even adjust the brightness to your surroundings however you'd like. One con of eBooks is that the battery will only last an average four to six hours. Studies prove that being in front of devices like computers, televisions, eBooks, and so forth can be very unhealthy for your eyes. Just like a computer, the eBooks can suddenly freeze while you're in the middle of something. Not every book you want to read can be available which can be a downside of your options. Finally, it can be easily damaged by having spills of something you’re drinking on them while you’re reading. To be honest, I can truthfully say I wouldn't know how I could function without technology. After thinking about it, I've never realized the amount of technology I use on a day to day basis. I take the time out of my day to use these certain technologies to my advantage. I wouldn't say I'm glued to my phone but I do make sure to carry it on me at all times because I need to communicate with the important people in my life, find something I need to know that minute on my mobile internet and even if I was in a rough situation, I would be able to call someone up and ask for help immediately. Being a full-time student, I have my laptop with me most the time because I can get homework done when I need it done or get a head start. Not only do I use my laptop school wise to type papers and research but I also use it in my free time to watch movies, listen to music, online shopping, or Skype with my family in Morocco.
