My Goal of Becoming a Nurse

Many people have certain goals in life they want to achieve. Over the next few years there is one important goal I would love to achieve. Setting a goal and achieving it are two different things. Most people set goals in life and aren’t persistent with their goals. When you set a goal there are steps you need to go through in order to achieve that goal, you need to plan out how you’re going to accomplish it.

Over the next few years of my life I would love to achieve my goal of Becoming a Phlebotomist, and graduating   from a nursing school as a nurse practitioner . It is something I am passionate about and didn’t really realize I wanted to do until I got into the nursing field. I have worked two years now as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in a nursing home. I have experienced a wide variety of patients, but mostly I have dealt with the Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients. It is difficult most days but at the end of the day it is very rewarding to know you have helped someone in need. Most of the time you have to ration yourself to many different patients which is hard to do. I am compassionate toward my resident’s and want to assist with their medical needs; therefore I believe I would be a great nurse.

I plan to achieve my goal by working hard and staying focused. By working hard I am going to need to study many hours to retain the knowledge, to attain this goal of mine, but I can also do so by staying persistent. My personal experience as a CNA has led me to further my career in nursing, although living in today’s economic hardship it is difficult to juggle going to college, having to work, and going about your daily life.
Most people start going to college right out of high school, I believe it is a little easier to do so because once you have taken the step to work instead of going to school; you fall into a life where it is much more difficult to afford to live.
