The Kudler Strategic Plan provided a snapshot of Kudlers’s strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats (SWOT). The problem areas that is in need of immediate attention is the purchasing, management and location. In the Strategic plan 12% of the perishable goods are rotated out of inventory every two or three days, either by being thrown away or donated to local charities (2003). Kudler Foods also has a wide variety of produce to choose from. The produce department offers over 350 fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices (2003). When Kathy is sick or on vacation, no one is able to order replacement inventory or deal with major business issues (2003). Due to Kathy’s micro-management approach with the organization, the managers that were hired are not afforded the full responsibility of the management position. The Del Mar location is not doing as well as expected, although the areas meets the economic demographics for a successful area, the town is too small to really support the store (2003). By addressing these problems in the development stages of the organization would afford Kathy a productive and lucrative expansion.
In order to rectify the situation a viable solution is needed. To solve the problem of management and purchasing would be to implement a general management team. Within this team each manager would be responsible for there particular area, example as follows: Purchasing Manager/Analyst would be responsible for the purchasing of goods and analyzing each store sales trend to eliminate excessive bulk purchase...
