Kine 198 Lecture Test Study Guide

All Kine198 Health and Fitness lecture tests will be 40 questions, each question is worth ½ point each. Test format may be multiple choice, True/False, matching etc. Failure to bring a Scantron 882 and pencil will result in student forfeiting his/her right to take the test. Please come to class prepared.

Chapter 1- Introduction to Personal Health and Fitness
Define health and know the components of wellness
Define stress, eustress, and distress
Know stress management techniques and how stress effects longevity Know significance of Healthy people 2010

Chapter 2- Understanding Health Related Fitness
Know the benefits of and how to improve CV exercise and fitness Know the benefits of muscular fitness and signs of overtraining Know the risk factors for CV disease
Know the different aspects that define aerobic exercise/anaerobic exercise Know the FITT formula and necessary percentages to maintain/improve fitness levels Define overload, adaptation, and specificity

Define muscular strength/ muscular endurance
Define flexibility and types of stretching

Chapter 3- Lifestyle Choices and Hypokinetic Conditions
Define hypokinetic conditions and how they can be managed
List and define CV diseases and risk factors for each
What is Obesity? Causes, complications, etc.
Define Cancer, who is at risk, preventive measures, types of cancers and treatment options Define osteoporosis, who is at risk, preventive measures
Know causes and preventative measures for Low Back Pain

Chapter 4- Nutrition
What are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, antioxidants. What is the function of each?
Know the recommended daily percentage for carbohydrates (simple and complex), fats (saturated, unsaturated), and protein Differentiate between saturated and unsaturated fats, Give examples of each.
