1.0 COMPANY BACKGROUND
KFC Corporation (KFC) was founded and also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken with began by Colonel Harland Sanders. KFC is the famous chain of fast food restaurants in Malaysia. Colonel Harland Sanders discovered his penchant for cooking when he was only 9 years old. Through the years he grew up to become a personage the world knows as Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC. In year 1952, he decided to franchise his famous Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe blends of 11 herbs and spices to the rest of America. The Colonel's secret flavor recipe of 11 herbs and spices that creates the famous "finger lickin' good" chicken remains a trade secret. Portions of the secret spice mix are made at different locations in the United States, and the only complete, handwritten copy of the recipe is kept in a vault in corporate headquarters. KFC in Malaysia is company owner. KFC in America gave franchise to KFC (M) Holdings Berhad for market KFC in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Cambodia. By the early 70's, that special recipe reached Malaysia. The first KFC restaurant in Malaysia was opened in 1973 on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and KFC Malaysia has grown ever since. KFC Malaysia is a Western Quick Service Restaurants (WQSR) operation as well known for its fast food service. It is the single largest WQSR chain in Malaysia and in the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan). Currently KFC has more than 620 restaurants throughout Malaysia and growing. In fact, KFC has captured 44% of market shares in Malaysia. KFC Malaysia caters to various groups of people; those are from individuals to families group of customer. Products it sells include chickens, burgers, nuggets, sandwiches, wedges, drinks, fries, coleslaw and many more. While its primary focus is fried chicken, KFC also offers a line of grilled and roasted chicken products, side dishes and desserts. Today, KFC Malaysia continues to serve finger lickin' good, succulent pieces of chicken. KFC prides itself as a fast-food restaurant that give customers great tasting chicken with a selection of home-styled side dishes and desserts to make a wholesome, complete and satisfying meal.

SWOT analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threat involved in a project or in a business venture. It involves specifying the objective of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieve that objective.
