The key elements to having a successful career
In order to succeed there are certain skills you have to obtain to achieve being successful. The main skills are self-motivation, interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, inquisitive, and flexibility. Each one of these skills plays an equal part into becoming successful. It isn’t always easy work to obtain such skills. They are skills acquired over time with dedication and persistence. This is why many people often go through more than one career. Sometimes it can take others longer to learn these skills. Naturally, I am good when it comes to being motivated. The key to self-motivation is to really want it bad enough. I motivated myself to get back into school and although it is not easy, I did it. On the other hand, I am not so good with thinking strategically. I’ve adapted a sort of care free, everything falls into place attitude. It isn’t like me to think things ahead and to be in order with my planning. I realize it’s something I need to get ahead in my career but it’s one of those things that practice makes perfect. Even though I have my rough edges another area of strength for me would be the ability to be open to change and very flexible. I accept the fact that in business things are liable to change at any time. I also acknowledge that when one door closes another opens. So when things begin to change I can adapt to it quickly. My strength and weakness both help me to become stronger because where my strength helps me to do my job better, my weaknesses also allows room for Improvement and change. In my career field, nursing, I would need each of these skills to become successful. I need to motivate myself to continue through with anything that I start. I would need interpersonal skills to get along with all sorts of people and to connect with my patients.
