Kanye Analysis

“Sinful Dreaming” The song “So Appalled by Kanye West seems to be one of many songs on Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, album that takes a straight forward attack on the life that Kanye lives but at the same time likes. It seems that the album itself makes many claims about the lifestyle and things that people in the high society do. Beyond that Kanye West is well known for his music being strictly more or less about the internal battle with himself. One that is easily pointed out is “I'm trying to write my wrongs, But its funny these same wrongs helped me write this song.”(Touch the Sky) I would have to say that through Kanye West career as a song writer he’s is one of the most consistent artist that openly points out and accepts the life he lives as something that isn’t the most holy life to have. As I listen to the song So Appalled I noticed that of all the songs on the album this song seemed to have the most serious or viable beat to go with its pretty direct meaning. As I did the grammar and thesaurus changes to the song I did a lot of adding of the word I changing literally every verse into the first person and of course it sounded more like a story realistically about Kanye’s life. I think the most important changes to me was the changing of the word “ridiculous” to “unbelievable” and also changing “appalled” to “amazing” which in my eyes gave the song kind of a double meaning and also reminded me of another song he did that was actually called amazing done in the album before this 808 Heartbreak which is kind of the other half to this double meaning in the song. With most of the changes I made I feel like I changed the song to better resemble the song “Amazing” which is in first person as he talks strictly in one verse about him knowing he is a problem and saying that that’s something he is fine with and saying that you’ll never be able to take that away from him. So

Kanye West’s music videos of the song “Jesus Walks” became very controversial in society when it came out because of its references to Jesus Christ. I can see how some people could become very offended with one of his videos because it showed a man dressed up as Jesus. The video I am going to talk about is the Church version of the video. This video depicted the stories of three different people: A prostitute, an alcoholic, and a gangster. All three of them seem to be at a low point in their lives when some angels come and kind of usher them to a church where Kanye West is preaching.…

Kanye released one of his most influential albums titled "808S and Heartbreak." It is featured on Rolling Stones top 40 most groundbreaking albums of all time. Kanye West's, "Auto-Tune-heavy, emotionally naked fourth album came after a brutal year during which his mother died and his engagement broke up, but the album's cavernous sound and exposed-soul lyrics confused even those who had been aware of West's recent trials" (RollingStone Editors). Instead of loud beats and lyrics about money and women, Kanye rapped about his poignant feelings and was masked by the Auto-Tune digital production that no other artist has ever done before. In addition to this new style of hip-hop, Kanye would introduce a staple machine that has now been in hip-hop for years. The Roland TR-808 drum machine made its revival because of Kanye West. The 808 machine that was released in the 80's was laughed at because it barely produced what a professional drummer could do but Kanye found that, "it made an elemental shudder when you turned it up loud, sending vibrations up and down packed city blocks. It provided a rough sound that was perfect for an enclosed space with lots of loose rattling parts, like a car" (Greene). All of the songs on "808S and Heartbreak" featured the basic drums of the 808 machine and soon all of hip-hop was using it. In simple terms, "the 808 [rewrote] the rules of hip-hop from the ground up. It is rap's bedrock boom,…

"That is so gay.” “You are such a faggot.” These are two phrases we hear fairly often in our everyday lives and do not really question what they are actually saying. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few decades, you know the words gay and faggot are derogatory terms for people who are homosexual. Yet theses words are accepted as everyday vocabulary in America. Our society has become so immune to these words that we have forgotten what they mean and how they can affect people. In Macklemore’s song "Same Love” and his music video he addresses society's false preconceived notions on homosexuality, the use of hateful slurs in the music industry, and how we as a society need to stop ignoring the sexual equality movement and…

By definition, a social drama is “a moment (or series of moments) in a community when someone is called publicly to account for his or her violation of a cultural expectation. Subsequently, there is a process of response(s) to the challenge, acceptance or rejection of the response(s), and either reintegration of the transgressor or social schism” (Coutu 392). But a social drama can also provide further insight into how we communicate. For example, it is a phenomenon that provides evidence of speech codes, which in turn reveal patterns in our speech. A social drama also aids in interpreting…

    New Slaves Song Meaning

    • 333 Words

In the song the song New Slaves By Kanye West produced in the year 2013 and the producers of this song are by Kanye West, Ben Bronfman, Mike Dean, Travis Scott, Noah Goldstein, Sham Joseph and Che Pope. The song New Slaves has a lot to do with racism, slavery, segregation, and materialism. One of the reasons that Kanye West made this song about this powerful topic is because he thinks that there is still in this day a lot of racism, and maybe from him making this song people would be able to hear it and maybe see how people feel. Another reason, why Kanye West made this song is because in the intro of the song he says,” My momma was raised in the era when clean water was only served to the fairer skin.” The definition of the intro is his describing when his mother was growing up she was growing up in the era when all the racism was very bad.…

The song “Amazing” by Kanye West describes my summer and my personality for a few reasons. First and foremost, the mood of the song reflects my personality to a decent extent. For instance, this song has a slower, more “chill” feeling to it. As a person, I am predominantly calm, but have occasional moments of intensity. The Young Jeezy verse reflects the intense side of me, as the verse suddenly lashes out at you with wrathful, raspy vocals, while my calm side is reflected by the Kanye West verses, put out in a soothing, mellow voice. Consequently, the frequency of the verses also reflects my personality, as the song contains one intense verse amidst 7 calm ones, reminiscing how I am principally calm.…

Music Lyrics being NON-VIOLENT Rap music can be considered a style of art, and a way for the artists to express feelings through their words on paper. However, there are quite a few rap artists that get criticized for their lyrics. In my essay, I want to discuss why rappers use certain lyrics in their music and why people shouldn’t believe that it causes violence among the younger generations. People shouldn’t censor the music just because of violent, vulgar and abusive messages it promotes to the world. I believe in my own mind, that there is a reason for these types of lyrics that rap artists use and I will simply explain those reasons in this essay. Rap has been called one of the most important music forces to emerge in two decades. It’s pounding beats and staccato rhymes exploded on the streets of the urban America in the early 1980s and since have become the theme music and lyrical heart of the vibrant youth culture called hip-hop ( SIRS 1993). There are many different types of rap artist. There are some that talk about money, some talk about righteousness, and the list goes on and on. Every rap artist had their own way of expressing themselves. There are those that talk about sex, drugs, and violence who receive the negative attention( SIRS 1993). People, think this so- called gangster rap is a bad influence on children in the world and that it promotes violence and that it also is abusive to women. Delores Tucker, head of national congress of black women has been among those pressuring different record companies to stop distributing gangster rap music. There were other significant names that participated in this action. Names like Senate Majority leader Bob dole, and former education Secretary William J. Bennett(Surveys, pg. 1). There are some rap artists that have been openly criticized for their lyrics. Rappers like Lil Kim, Too Short, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and a member from “Too Live Crew,” named Luke Skywalker. These rap artists in the past have been…
