Should Junk Food be Banned in Schools

Should kids be allowed to buy and eat junk food in schools? Rising obesity and diabetes rates in children should be reduced by banning junk food in schools.

One reason why junk food needs to be banned from school is rising obesity rates. Junk food needs to be banned in schools because because 60 million adults ( 20% of population) are obese and providing healthy choices in schools will help our kids have a normal weight. Also kids need to develop healthy eating habits at an early age to prevent the 300,000 deaths each year that happen from complications associated with being obese or overweight.

Junk food is known to contain high sugar levels. Eating foods with high sugar levels makes students less able to focus in school. Also diabetes can be caused over time by constantly eating foods with high amounts of sugar. Another factorthat comes from eating a high sugar diet is weight gain.

If junk food is banned in school, students will continue to eat junk food after and before school. This is an irrelevant argument because most kids already eat junk food, like poptarts and sugary cereals for breakfast before school and candy bars, chips and soda for a snack after school, but if it is banned in schools than their intake amount would be reduced. Also if junk food is banned at schools then parents can limit how much junk food their kids eat.

Banning junk food in schools will reduce obesity and diabetes rates in children. Now you know what can happen from eating junk food and having a high sugar diet. So now I would like you to limit the amount of junk food that you and your kids eat every day so you and your kids can stay healthy.
