The conclusion of reaching the heavenly bodies, the swift and drastic changes of the Filipino race! The embodiment of the anger, and dejection that was self-contained by our stirred emotions. He reminds us of his popular anecdote when he was still a young and gleeful jubilant, as his sisters tormented him to stop sculpturing images and monuments, as soon as they were departing away from him, he said.. “Go ahead! Laugh at me today... Someday when I die, people will make monuments and images of me!”

    RIZAL NATIONAL HERO?

    • 751 Words
    • 2 Pages

Dr. Jose Rizal is unquestionably our greatest national hero and martyr of our nation. We cannot deny the fact that many other heroes gave their lives for our country by fighting foreign invaders with their sharp weapons, but Rizal was still selected as our national hero whereas he uses pen only. For the pen is mightier than the sword that a person can cause people to change their opinions on a large scale whereas a sword can only change a person's opinion by force and then often only results in the person's death. It means that written material like books or poetry has more influence than fighting or war. We may also understand from it that ideas are more effective than violence. The pen also is much more influential than the sword. It should be a source of all the Filipinos to have one of such excellent and merits which may be equalled but not surpassed by any other man. But we sometimes denied in ourselves what he did in order to save our country. Sometimes other says that he does not deserve to be called our national hero for he never fights by sword and immediately…

    Plea to the Government

Rizal is a nonviolent individual, a proprietor of peace, maybe. His advocacy was to have reform and change through composed means, as he was addressing this call to the government back then (Spaniards ruling in the Philippines for over 333 years (1565-1898)). He was never of the same opinion as those of the Katipuneros nor of the Spaniards nor of Pio Valenzuela’s. He thought before he acted, he thought carefully with the notion of dissecting each and every consequence. He believed in the importance and power of education, of learning, and of intellect.…

SUMMARY: Rizal admits that indolence does exist among the Filipinos, but it cannot be attributed to the troubles and backwardness of the country; rather it is the effect of the backwardness and troubles experienced by the country. Past writings on indolence revolve only on either denying or affirming, and never studying its causes in depth. One must study the causes of indolence, Rizal says, before curing it. He therefore enumerates the causes of indolence and elaborates on the circumstances that have led to it. The hot climate, he points out, is a reasonable predisposition for indolence. Filipinos cannot be compared to Europeans, who live in cold countries and who must exert much more effort at work. An hour ' s work under the Philippine sun, he says, is equivalent to a day ' s work in temperate regions.…

To many Filipinos, Dr. Jose Rizal’s life had been an open book, but his works and sacrifices seems not to achieve independence for his country and countrymen but still admired and remembered up to this day. His life was full of controversies and unanswered issues about his works and beliefs. One of them was the issue of his supposed retraction. Retraction is defined as to withdraw a promise, statement or opinion.(Miriam Webster, 1999 p520). It was said that he refuted his writing against the teachings and practices of Catholic Church, returned to the Catholic faith, and abominated masonry, but there seemed to be a discrepancy in the documents linked to his retraction.…

The movie “Jose Rizal” is all about our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal – Hislife and works, his struggles in order to free his countrymen from abuse, until his death under the hands of the Spaniards who occupied our country for a very longtime. Most of the scenes of the film took place during Rizal’s imprisonment at Dapitan wherein he meets Taviel, a Spanish officer, who will eventually defend him on his trial in court. During their meeting, Taviel asks Rizal everything about him and his works through various questions. Every answer that Rizal brought out from his mouth made Taviel realize that Rizal was indeed an innocent man. On the course of their conversation, Rizal talks about the making of his Two Novels “Noli Me Tangere” and its sequel “El Filibusterismo” which are both anti-Spanish Novels that depicts how the Spaniards rule the Philippines and how the rights of the Filipinos were abolished. Rizal portrayed himself on the said Novels – as Crisostomo Ibarra on “Noli Me Tangere” and as Simeon on “El Filibusterismo.”Going through with the movie, while Rizal is telling his story to Taviel, the scene on the movie switches from his life story then to his portrayal on his Novels. Sometimes the scene gets very difficult to follow because of the sudden switches during the scenes on the movie most especially during the time that his first novel was on the process of writing. Rizal, a brave and a man of his word, was never afraid whatever theconsequences he may suffer because of his writings that are against the friars and also to Spaniards. His goal was to free the Philippines from the unjust government of Spanish colony. In summary, the movie talks mostly of Rizal’s life until his death and the creation of his great novels. The actors and actresses who acted on the movie did a great job presenting how it was during Rizal’s time even though the said events in Rizal’s life were just written in books.…
