Jones-Blair is a paint manufacturer from Dallas-Fort Worth area. It mainly focuses regionally in Dallas-Fort Worth area and its surrounding 50 counties. They are a major player in the $13 billion US –based paint industry. They have a great reputation with a quality product which has the highest pricing point in the market. Almost half of the maturing paint industry is an architectural coatings and the annual growth rate is about 4% which is equal to a general inflation. There 2-3% drop in number of paint companies because of the overall slow growth in the industry. Jones-Blair’s biggest challenge might be the ever increasing popularity mass merchandisers like Wal-Mart and Home Depot. These competitions are threat to Jones-Blair because they can grow like a wildfire. Also EPA is demanding research and development in paint technology which forces Jones-Blair to spend money on R&D. Growth has been nonexistent. Competitions are getting better and bigger than ever. One bad move might jeopardize the entire company.
