Edith Sampson Grand Chapter
I am a senior pursuing a BFA in theater and a co-major in international studies at Wayne State University (WSU). Theater has been a part of my life since the age of 11. Performing arts is one of my most important extracurricular activities. That includes experience in music, dance, as well as theatre arts. My most recent training is Congolese Dance, under the guidance of Karen Prall. For the past four years I have participated in productions at WSU’s Bonstelle Theatre, and during the month of June 2012 I studied abroad at the historical Moscow Art Theatre School (MXAT) in Moscow, Russia. Because of my interest in theater management and directing, I was employed in the Theatre Management office at WSU my sophomore year. Currently, I am employed as the assistant supervisor of the Department of Theater and Dance and am the senior representative of the Bonstelle Board.
As a Resident Advisor, (RA) I set the tone for the WSU residential living environment. It is my duty to make residents feel that they are a part of a safe environment, as well as displaying the great attributes WSU has to offer. I am also a student ambassador. WSU’s Student Ambassador Program serves to enrich and enhance leadership and communication skills, personal growth, and professional development of students. As an ambassador I strive to improve the quality of WSU through professionalism and dedicated service.
Scholarships and grants have been huge assets in my life. My recent accomplishments include being a 2012 David Adamany WSU Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship recipient, recipient of the Molson Scholarship, receiving the Harriet Kanter Award for Student Development as well as an Undergraduate Creative/Research Grant.
In 2011 I was a Negative Population Growth Scholarship essay contest winner, placing second in the 2010 Executive Leadership Council Award for...
