Jesus Reflected In Me
As good Christians we should try to set an example for children by following in Jesus’ footsteps. There have been many people, such as the saints, the disciples and apostles, who followed the teachings of Jesus and set examples for the growing Christian family today by their actions and words. They continue to have a great influence, inspiring people all over the world. In my life, my family and many of my teachers have tried to instill the ways of our Lord into me, and now that I am growing older, it is becoming my turn to take their place. Reflections of Jesus within me are demonstrated both by my works and my attitude toward others. I have encountered girls my age and even younger who dress and speak inappropriately, and I sometimes feel that I don’t ‘fit in’ with them because of this, but I try not to follow their example, ignoring comments and criticisms. I forgive these people, as they may have their own hardships and struggles, or feel insecure themselves, dressing and speaking as they do to cover up their own flaws. I try to pray for these people, that they may find peace. For a few years, my friends have been fighting nearly every day, sometimes over the most annoying topics.
I try to diffuse the situations as best I can. Sometimes this doesn’t work; however, the fighting usually stops and makes the rest of the day happier. My hope in doing this is to teach my friends that fighting never helps, that talking about our problems and issues together is a much better solution. Finally, I have been working at a Sunday school every weekend. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” Working at the Sunday school and teaching the 3-5 year old class makes me feel like I am truly making a difference. Teaching the little children about God as Jesus did is perhaps the best example of a reflection of Jesus.
