Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Brontë, is about a young woman’s life that goes through many hardships. The story takes place in three main places it begins in Gateshead, then Lowood, and ends in Thornfield during the 1840’s. The genre of the book is romance. A young woman who falls in love with the owner of the house but in her eyes it is forbidden to fall in love with him.

The characters in this book are Jane Eyre, Edward Rochester, St. John Rivers, Diana Rivers, Mary Rivers, Bessie Lee, Mr. Lloyd, Reed family, Bertha Mason, Richard Mason, and Adele. Jane Eyre is the strong-willed main character in the story. Edward Rochester is the owner of the Thornfield home. St. John Rivers is Jane’s cousin the same as Diana and Mary. Bessie Lee is the maid; who works at the Reed’s home. Mr. Lloyd is the one who mentions the institute to Mrs. Reed and suggests that she sends Jane there. The Reed family is the family where Jane begins her life living with and is mean to her. Bertha Mason is the wife of Mr. Rochester who has problems in the mind. Richard Mason is Bertha’s brother and he stops the wedding. Adele is the little girl in whom Jane is governess to.

Jane Eyre is under the care of her aunt, whom hates her, and is sent to an institute where she spends nine years, seven as a student two as a teacher. The institute wasn’t sanitized and there was an illness that passed through the institution and killed a lot of young girls. Jane survived but she lost a friend whom she only talked to. Gets a job as a governess at Thornfield where she falls in love with Mr. Rochester, who is the owner of Thornfield. She finds out that they can never be together because he is already married, therefore she runs away. Jane finds a place at her cousins the Rivers who at first she didn’t know they were related. Her cousin St. John asks her for marriage but her heart is still with Mr. Rochester. One day she hears a whisper and recognized his voice, “Jane! Jane! Jane!” nothing...
