Captain Jack Sparrow Johnny Depp is “Captain Jack Sparrow” and quite the personality Captain Jack Sparrow displays in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Captain Jack Sparrow is a pirate however he is not the ruthless, raping, and pillaging type. Captain Jack Sparrow is selfish, manipulative, cunning, funny, delusional, handsome, charming, and controlling. Captain Jack Sparrow is also a ship chasing, rum drinking, womanizing type of pirate. Captain Jack Sparrow’s father was also a pirate therefore Captain Jack Sparrow was born and raised in the world of pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow falls under a few theorist and theories. Adler’s theory of comes to mind, Gordon Allport, trait theory also comes to mind and last is the big five-factor model. Each theorist and theories can explain Captain Jack Sparrow’s personality however the personality may be explained different. The difference is in the theorist and theory and what is considered to be influencing the personality. Alfred Adler Alfred Adler has been noted saying, “When we are born, we are born with a sense of inferiority” (AllPsych and Heffner Media Group, Inc., 2011). As we are young we are weak and helpless. As we grow older we attempt to overcome these issues. We strive to become superior to others (AllPsych and Heffner Media Group, Inc., 2011). What Adler is describing is the way that Jack may be feeling. Jack has an inferior complex so he is striving to be the best at what he does, that is living as a pirate and captain. This is evident by some of the things Jack said in the pirate movies. Jack stated, “This is not my vessel. My vessel is magnificent, and fierce. “The Immortal Captain Jack Sparrow.’ It has such a lovely ring to it…and it’s
