Book Report: Jack Reacher
Language Arts Book Report
Name of the Book: A Reacher novel:61 hours by Lee Child. This title is related to the book because the entire book is a countdown recollection of events that leads up to the climax, where Reacher and Plato, the protagonist and antagonist fight. It begins with 61 hours before the main fight.
Author: Lee Child.
The main protagonist of the novel is Jack Reacher, an ex-military policeman that spends the majority of his time as a “nomad,” wandering around the states, looking for places to travel. His personality quite matches his name because his last name, Reacher, is symbolic of a person that climbs the greatest heights and overcomes the obstacles of ruthless difficulty. Reacher is an intrinsically intellectual man; his unusual nature allows him to morph his metacognition into that of his enemies, enabling him to track his targets with speed and accuracy. Reacher is a main component of the story obviously because he is the driving force that allows the story to slowly unlock as his physical and mental skills empower him to investigate and determine. The other main protagonist is Deputy Peterson, which is actually an ally and partner in this specific book who follows Reacher’s guidance to help track down a murderer and a major drug dealer, possibly one and the same. Unfortunately, Peterson does not make it to the end of the book, and the scene of death is satirical in the way that the cop that has been “aiding” their cause turns out to be bent. The antagonist of the novel is Plato, a very short and small man, which is pretty ironic considering the fact that he is a major drug dealer and is constantly in cunning situations, but he is technically a midget. He is considered the main antagonist; although he is not thoroughly mentioned until the end of the book, he is indirectly described through his servants and his actions are the main source of conflict, such as the major methamphetamine drug deal that Reacher fights hard to uncover.

The story’s antagonists can be associated with several characters, Brother Leon, Archie Costello and The Vigils, and Emile Janza. Brother Leon is one of the bigger rivals and enemies in the book because, besides from antagonizing Jerry, he tends to undermine others as well and create a hostile environment for the students, attributing the domination and violence at Trinity high school to his responsibility. Brother Leon tends to find fault in the others at the school and controls the other administrators that work with him at the school district. With the manipulative behavior that he greatly uses to his advantage, Brother Leon carefully builds a connection with Archie and The Vigils in an attempt to gain the ultimate power at the school. Fahrenheit 451 is a very interesting book. I say this because it is a book that is written in a way, the writer thinks the world will be in the future. Its cool to see what they had envisioned, as well as if they were right about anything that they had said. Ray Bradbury, was right about a lot of the future, we know as today.…

The main characters in this book are Carmen Lowell, Bridget Vreeland, Tibby Tomko-Rollins, and Lena Karigalis. These four girls play the role of the protagonist. All the girls are different from each other but that’s what completes them. They are all unique. There really isn’t an antagonist in my opinion.…

The title of this book relates to the story, because in the book, Ponyboy and Johnny are "outsiders." They can be thought of as Outsiders because they are labeled Greasers although they do not act like hoodlums, like the rest of the Greasers. They are thought of as Greasers just because they live on the East Side of town, and because they slick back their hair. But Ponyboy and Johnny are different then all of the other Greasers because they show their emotions, and are sensitive.…

On one day, after watching the movie named “Fahrenheit 451” in the English class, I started to thinking about what we are calling happiness . I browsed the web and came across this quotation “ Happiness is a positive range of emotions that we feel when we are content or full of joy” ,which is Cocacola ‘s definition . Then, I reminded of Beatty’s saying in the film ”Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full full of facts they feel stuffed…then they’ll get a sense of motion without moving, and they’ll be happy…”. I began to suspect our understanding about what called happiness, which seem to be only about pleasure, satisfaction, and full of nothing. After that, I have realized that the film predicted much of our reality in 2013, especially about definition of happiness. In this paper, I would like to base on the common points between “Fahrenheit 451” and our modern society, to prove that we are misunderstanding about definition of so-called happiness and then, to re-define happiness.…

Hannah is a helping hand at the store Beth is shopping at; Beth takes time and talks with her, which ended up being beneficial to her in the end. Hanna is a flat character, although she is important to the story she isn’t described with a lot of detail. Madge P Groton is the security guard, she is the protagonist. From the introduction of Madge you could tell she was stern and not overly friendly. Another important character would be the officer that eventually listened to Beth’s story.…
