IS THIS LOVE?
John is a handsome young man who is the chairperson of the Represent ative Council of Learners (RCL) at the school he attends. Cathy, John’s girlfriend, is also a member of the RCL and is well -liked and popular. She often receives awards for her excellent academic performance. John can be very quick tempered and possessiv e of Cathy. His behaviour can be irrational and unpredictable. He is controlling and insists that Cathy dresses in a certain way. She is also not allowed to go to the movies or the mall with her friends. He claims that he loves her but when she tries to stand up to him he would give her the silent treatment and make her feel that she is in the wrong. He sometimes buys her roses and chocolates and apologises for his behaviour. However, he constantly checks her cell phone messages and monitors where she goes and when.

Cathy is afraid of John and would sometimes lie to keep the peace between them. Her self esteem is seriously affected already and she feels trapped in this relationship.
