Abstract
The term “project management” can be defined as the regulation of preparing, organizing, and supervising resources to successfully complete a specific project, goals or objectives. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while honoring the preconceived project variables.   Typical project variables include scope, time, cost, quality, and risk.   The lesser, but sometimes more ambitious challenge, is to optimize the allocation and integration of inputs required to meet the pre-defined objectives.   This paper will go into further detail of the five major variables of project management, scope, time, cost, quality, and risk, as well as what considerations should be taken to achieve the best business value and other factors that determine or influence project risk.   These factors play a large role when organizations hardware is out of date and is unable to support a new CRM solution and the importance of replacing said hardware before moving forward.

Scope
In simple terms, if you deliver less functionality, it will take you less time. The problem is that often the decision as to what not to deliver happens during the development process itself. This means that prioritization of functionality from the outset is important. If half way through you need to cut scope, but the only things you have left are the things your users simply “must” have, and you spent the last three months delivering things they’d only like to have, your options are can be somewhat limited. Priorities can change, but core functionality tends not to change.   It is important to concentrate on delivering that and you’ll make it easier for yourself in the long run.
