During the religion course we have learned about 5 religions and how they coincide with the catholic faith. Having learned this information I am going to talk about major pilgrimage sites from the three major religions that I chose. Catholic pilgrimage site resides.The 'wailing wall' is one of Judaisms pilgrimage sites. The wall is believed to have once been a Jewish temple. The wall extends about 62 feet above the ground and is made of complete stone. The site of the wall is considered to be holy ground. Every year thousands of people travel to Jerusalem to mourn the temples destruction and to pray.This site is significant to the Jewish religion because it is believed to be the closest point to the Holy of Holies, the holiest room of the old temple. This old tradition of praying at the wall began around 200-300 AD when Rabbis claimed that God's presence still tarried at the location of the Holy of Holies.Visitors of the wailing wall push notes into the cracks of the wall, in hopes that their requests will be answered.Bodh gaya is associated with being the place that the Buddha obtained enlightenment. To Buddhists this location in considered to be the most sacred of all their pilgrimage sites.Thousands of Buddhist monks come to the now temple to pray and pay homage to Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. Bodh Gaya's main attraction is the Mahabodhi Temple, featuring a 150 foot high pyramid spire on site of Siddhartha's original Bodhi Tree, along with a golden image of the Buddha.The Jordan is a 251-kilometer long river that is a sacred pilgrimage site for Catholics and christians alike. According to the catholic faith, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River.As you can see all three of these major religions all have places they consider to be holy. Each represent
