Is your generation wiser than your grandparents’ generation `Firstly, the essay begins with a simple sentence which holds a lot of meaning and very vague. It was “No. Smarter, yes, but not wiser.” To a lot of people, they would normally confuse the two words meaning as the same but it is very different. Not only that, every aspect of the story would have a line to do with colours at the start and end like “Green is the colour of birth” and “Green is the colour of change” This two line would be the essence that the section is trying to tell you. Yet despite the topic sentence being an expository essay type of question, the entire essay was a story and the author was brilliant in incorporating both topic “our generation” and “your grandparents’ generation” into story representing each sides as a character which the young boy represents our generation and the grandmother representing the grandparents’ generation. Each section shows what both of their actions do yet we should judge these actions into whether who is wiser. Besides that, one chapter it evolves around one part of the lives and shows the progress in life as the grandson changes drastically and does things that the grandmother needs to catch up because she wants to fit in or just be with her grandson and she is willingly to do anything for him and all because of her love for him. This tug the heartstrings of readers as they would feel almost impressed for the grandmother doting so much and willingly to do so much on the grandchildren. Yet, this story reflects on how much we have taken our grandparents for and that we just naturally assume they are just a part of our lives and not knowing that just for us they are willingly to do anything. Although we may have greater knowledge that our grandparents just like the child knows and study medicine, we might not know or understand what they really need unlike they understand what our wishes are.
