Some people say, that the american dream is dead. People can not get a job and they are not very wealthy and that is basically why the american dream is dead, but I bet the difference. I will say, that the American dream is alive and well. It is not hard to have a dream, it is hard to achieve it.
What is your dream? And is it possible to achieve it? Those are the kind of questions you have to ask yourself. An example could be: What is your dream? To work as a software engineer in the US. Is it possible to achieve? Yes it is. The tricky question is: How will you achieve it? In the scenario I would study software engineering in college or on an universty. This is the first step towards your dream, hard work. Nothing comes easy. Now you have the foundation for a job. The next part is to get a job. This will probably be the hardest part. If you are not living in the states, then you are not able to show up for job interviews. This will be the last part that stand between you and the US. If you get the job and if you are able to move to the US, then you basically have achieved your dream. Now you just have to see if this is really what you want.
The dream mentioned above is only one of many. The American dream is not something we can generalize. The American dream is an individual thing. James Truslow Adams have tried to define the dream, but I still do not think that you can define it. The dream mentioned above is one of my two dreams. A common misunderstanding is, that it is only people from outside of the US who can achieve the American dream. I'll say that it doesn't matter where you are from. You can live in America and your dream could be: Become a professional NBA player. That can only be achieved in America. So are you an american? And is your dream to become a professional NBA player? Then go for it. This is your American dream. “If you risk nothing, you gain nothing”.
