Overview of the themes
A literature review is supposed to be a quick guide to a topic for professionals to stay abreast of current issues in their industry. This one endeavours to present the current research into entrepreneurship and how the current education system is affecting the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. However it also takes a look at the new point of view of social entrepreneurship and whether it is being included correctly in the new programs for graduates and post graduates. These topics are highly important as governments view entrepreneurs and tourism as essential sources of economic growth and job creation (Matlay 2008 pg. 1). Entrepreneurship and Education

Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship offers many opportunities to transition economies especially small and medium sized enterprises as these enterprises can respond to the systematic shocks in transition economies more rapidly than large enterprises (Hashi and Krasniqi 2011). “In recent years, the role of entrepreneurship has also been highlighted by the new growth theory with its emphasis on knowledge (Hashi and Krasniqi 2011 pg. 2)”.This theory states that both knowledge and its spill over effects are essential in today’s knowledge-based economy. This is the reason for entrepreneurship becoming vital in economies today; however there are constraints and enablers for new entrepreneurs. According to Smith and Beasely (2011) the constraints consist of limited knowledge to set up a business, financial uncertainty, relevant work experience, limited guidance, familial discouragement, confidence lack of awareness, and creativity. The enablers consist of sufficient enterprise models, involvement of mentors, the enterprise experience, relevant work experience, family background, flexible learning environment, a facility and one’s degree subject. As you will note it seems that there are similar constraints and enablers it is because every entrepreneur’s background is different. Education

Entrepreneurship is sometimes considered to be an alternative career not the first choice. Such individuals that choose entrepreneurship in such a manner become subjected to various “push” and “pull” factors that will shape their career. However there is a large and protracted debate about whether or not the skills taught in business skills are sufficient for new entrepreneurs.
