Is It Our Experiences Who Determine Who We Are

Life is another name for ups and downs. All of us learn new things throughout our lives and the learning phase never ends. In my opinion, the best way of learning about life is through personal experience. Some people, on the contrary, believe that we can learn about life by listening to the advice of family and friends. Below are the reasons that support my point of view.
To begin with, I think learning and experience are intertwined with each other. We learn by our past experiences which help us making the right decisions. The end results of our actions always leave a strong impact on our mind. On the other hand, if we listen to the advice of our family and friends, we will remember that advice for a short duration only, and after that, we will forget what was
For example, if a child is not performing to a satisfactory standard, and fails an exam. He would try study harder next time in attempt to pass the next. In this instance, he learned purely because of his mistakes and experiences.
Ostensibly, advice of our family and friends can also be very beneficial. Our parents are older than us and hence more experienced. They can guide us from their experiences, and suggest us to move in the right direction. For instance, they can help us choosing the right career as they are more knowledgeable. We also learn from those around, who give the feedback on our actions, be it good or bad.
In conclusion, although we learn a lot from our family and friends, the best way of learning is through our own experiences. This is because our experience teaches us a lesson and helps us to learn from our mistakes.
