Is 20th-21st Century Global Warming Natural or Induced by Human Activity?

Global warming is one of the greatest problems in which interest from international communities is increasing every year. Consequences of this problem are dramatic and disastrous. They are felt in every part of the planet Earth and it has greater impact on society. That is why it is necessary to combat the problem. What is the most important in solving such problems is being fully aware of the causes that induce it. There is a long debate between two groups of scientists. One group of scientists believes that the main cause of global warming is human activity. However, another group of scientists claims that global warming is natural. It is believed that the temperature can start to reverse and the Earth will enter to a new ice age. Therefore, this essay will evaluate the arguments for and against the causes of this issue by indicating evidences and facts.
According to Bertrand et al. (2002), the projected anthropogenic global warming can be determined by using the SRES scenarios. Although early experiments and researches (Bertrand et al., 2000), showed that volcanic perturbations could be a possible source of the temperature changes in the Earth over the last century, later researches indicated that there are three main conditions to volcanic forcing. They are a permanent level of very high volcanic activity, a huge stratospheric burden, which has never been noticed before in the past, and it requires long time. Therefore, it is said that the dominant cause of global warming in the twenty first century is changes in atmospheric trace-gas concentrations (Bertrand et al., 2002). The rising of temperature has begun since 1970. Moreover, before industrialization temperature has increased due to volcanic and solar variability. These factors can result in rising of temperature as well as cooling which leads to the Ice Age (Bertrand et al., 2002).
