ow coming to the point, IPL has a number of advantages as well as disadvantages.IPL has discovered very fine players for India and they have also been paid a lot according to their skills, which were earlier underpaid .The league helps the players of india who have not played on a bigger platform,to show their talent and performance so that they can show their dedication towards the national cricket team and as a result there are number of players also there which have come into limelight from this league. The league also enables the growth of Indian economy.
As the coin has two different sides, one side which I have just proved above. There has become a trend now to play in IPL and not for international teams as they are not paying as players are being paid in IPL. In some cases , players, performing very well in IPL , are not able to perform up to the standard in international matches. Even the god of cricket, Sachin Tendular is also blamed that he plays for IPL and not for T20 international format. Now in some cases due to IPL some international cricket events are also rescheduled due to IPL, which is definitely not a good sign for the future of cricket.IPL is also Affecting the popularity of test cricket. The league has also drawback like spot-fixing.Players also get involved in spot fixing just for money and spoil the country’s name and also don’t respect the sportsman spirit, further bringing disgrace for the country which is a bad thing.
Here I would like to end and my point is that each and everything has its own advantages and disadvantages its just on the individual how he is taking the thing to his

It works on franchise system wherein the teams (presently 8; going up to 10 from the next season) representing different cities are auctioned and the highest bidder is awarded the rights to own and run the team for ten years.…

MTI’s Delhi based Shanker Bhattacharyya shares MTI’s strategic thoughts, analysis and learnings from the IPL Q: Is IPL a brand success, a media success or both? How do you describe IPL? Convergence of Cricket, and entertainment, one can describe this as cricket tournament, an entertainment event or a media spectacle! “Cricketainment” perhaps? The lines get blurred at times. If we are to go back few years, the idea was mooted for the first time in 2002. It was none other than Mr. Lalit Modi, scion of the KK BIRLA business family and empire who had a fixation and an inspiration of holding a cricket tournament in India. Inspiration came from the NBA league in US and also to some extent the club football leagues in the European continent. Here both the tournaments and the clubs are also a brand “property”, complete with media rights, merchandizing rights, sponsors, advertisers and a die-hard fan base worldwide. Until now, this has existed in the developed markets or countries (first world countries if you please). IPL is the first such an attempt to build a sports brand franchisee /property in South East Asia, based on one of the most popular sports in the region. To me, this creation is what Malcolm Gladwell calls the “tipping point” in the annals of cricket history worldwide. The effect of this will be felt throughout the cricketing world. It will inspire and create spin offs of similar products/brands, attract sponsors and advertisers, and on the whole it will change the economic contours of cricket and hopefully other sports as well. Is IPL a brand success? Or should we be more specific and determine whether this episode of the IPL is a success? Let’s examine this a little more closely. Any brand, by definition, should have an uncluttered, unique and relevant value proposition to its customers. In addition, it should be attuned to the culture in which it exists and a strong emotional connection with…

Good thing about international sports events is that people who participate are usually against discrimination on any level. That way people watching their favorite players, or even idols, who are against bullying and discrimination, can change their attitude towards different people. One more positive thing is that people usually, if their country is not in competition, cheer for other country and in that way there is more love between residents of those countries. If nothing else, people who travel to see sports events live, meet new people and cultures.…

Cricket, not snake charmers and elephants, is the most common sight in India. Go where you will or want, there will always be a narrow street nearby, chock full of a group of enthusiastic boys, of all ages and descriptions, playing cricket with remarkable energy and passion. Little boys who are only just bigger than the bats they bravely hold, teenagers attempting to play in the manner of the national cricketers they watch and admire, grown men whose love for the game has never waned – such are the people that play the game of cricket in India. And it is their spirit of enthusiasm, passion and competitiveness that symbolizes the essence of cricket. Cricket is a great unifier in a country that is unimaginably diverse, with over a hundred distinct languages and thousands of dialects, with more religions than can be counted on one's fingers, with different traditions and so on. Cricket is a bit like glue – it draws various people with differing backgrounds and merges them in one spectacular collage.…
