iPhone 5c vs iPhone 5s
In today’s economy, citizens have certain wants and needs in our to satisfy or sustain their lifestyles. For example, cell phones today are practically a enormous need by any citizen not only in America but throughout the world. By evaluating the production possibilities curve for the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s, I expected the cost benefit analysis would favor towards the iPhone 5c. However, I underestimated the utility of iPhone manufacturing and how much it actually cost to build, sell and profit from the iPhone 5c. Apple Inc. also has to consider their marketing as well, to insure their product sells across the globe to receive marginal benefit.
According to the information on the production possibilities curve, the iPhone 5s marginal cost is about $198.70 yet retails for $699 while its trade off with the iPhone 5c marginal cost is about $173.45 yet retails for $549. The iPhone 5c although, will sell the phone for $99 with a two year wireless contract also technically cost about $30 less to produce. With money running scarce, Apple Inc. decided to rebuild their iPhone 5 but with cheaper materials, like a reinforced polycarbonate solution instead of their all-aluminum unibody. Thus, gives consumers the incentive that the new iPhone 5c is going to be less expensive than the iPhone 5s. The iPhone 5s has more luxurious features like a l.e.d light, touch i.d, and a new a7 processor. On the other hand, you have to consider the opportunity cost of where Apple Inc. will sell these phones.
In conclusion, with the iPhone 5c I believe it would be most lucrative in foreign nations since this was the intention of Apple Inc. The cost of the phone will be more affordable for those people in less profiting countries then more economic stable countries like America. Quite so ever, I believe that Apple Inc. in America, will economize the iPhone 5s and will be most lucrative due to the simple fact that American’s have money and are willing to spend it for top quality needs.

Apple Inc. ranks second as the largest information technology company across the world (Bloomberg). Apple Inc., like other cell phone corporation, has supply and demand that is affected by a variety of factors. Businesses create products and offer services based on their customers’ demands, which can have an effect on the supply availability. The preference of the customer and the desire of the product that a company sells can affect the demand curve. As more customers want a product like the iPhone, the demand curve shifts to the right. Family, friends and colleagues can have a strong influence on a person’s choice of cell phone. When friends and family members have an iPhone, the consumer is more likely to purchase the phone because everyone else is getting it and speaking of the new cell phone. This type of “word of mouth” advertisement is free and beneficial to Apple Inc.…

In the USA today article published on September 25, 2012, the effect of the iPhone 5 on the economy is discussed. As everyone already knows, we are still in a great economic recession. It is estimated, however, that the selling of the iPhone to consumers will add approximately 3 billion dollars to the US economy by the end of this year. Within this article, the concept of economic growth is prevalent. With the expected 3 billion dollars expected to be added to the US economy, this would add approximately 1/3 of a percentage point to our economy’s economic growth rate by the end of this year. Compared to the iPhone sales last year for the iPhone 4s, they added approximately .1-.2 of a percentage point to the country’s economic growth, which is less than the expected earnings of the iphone 5. The US economic growth rate for this year with the aid of the iPhone 5 is predicted to be somewhere between 2 to 2.5 percent. This is pretty weak, but factors such as the quality of the product, the quantity supplied, the quantity demanded, and popularity of the good nonetheless is contributing to the country’s overall economic growth. Going back to the statement of this percentage growth is still pretty week, this is explained when Zandi explains that increased spending on iPhones would mean decreased spending on other things. This can be related to the concept of opportunity cost. For example, if Mary were to spend money on a $200 16GB iPhone 5, then she would have to give up buying those 2 pairs of shoes that she’s been eyeing down at the mall. Another economic concept demonstrated is the effect of quantity demanded of a good on one of its goods complements. With the sales of iPhones going up, then there would be an increased demand for iPhone cases, chargers, earphones, etc because they are complements to the iPhone itself. It is clear that the iPhone 5 is an incredibly popular product already and this article explains the effect of it on the economy…

    1. When BMW closes down a plant for alterations it incurs the direct cost of those alterations, but there is also an indirect opportunity cost. If BMW closes down the plant then that means the plant is not producing automobiles which could be sold. Therefore, BMW’s opportunity cost is the profits that it could have earned by operating the plant. BMW incurs direct and indirect costs from shutting down the plant. However, BMW also receives benefits from shutting down the plant: the profits from selling the new sports-activity coupe. If the value of these profits to BMW exceeds the costs of shutting down the plant, then BMW will shut down the plant. 2. No. This chapter discusses the benefits to a country of specializing in the production of those products for which it has a comparative advantage and trading for the other goods. Those benefits are the reduction in the relative price that consumers pay. This reduction in relative price creates gains from trade. This does not mean that trade is costless, but it does mean that the benefits to society are larger than the costs. We will discuss this issue further in the chapter on comparative advantage and gains from international trade (Chapter 8 in the Micro volume; Chapter 6 in the Macro volume). LEARNING OBJECTIVE…

Marketing plays a large part in Apple’s organization to ensure products are made that the consumers want and can use. Apple uses five main control mechanisms situational analysis, technological situations, competition situations, environment situations, weakness, and threat analyses to manage the direction of the company. Situation analysis takes into consideration population growth, public demand for mobile communication, educational growth, positive attitude for new technology devices, literacy, illiteracy differences, acceptance of imported products, and social views from around the globe.
