The iPhone 4S is a touchscreen smartphone developed by Apple Inc. It is the fifth generation of the iPhone, a device that combines the 3.5-inch iPod Touch with mobile phone capability. It retains the exterior design of its predecessor, the iPhone 4, but is host to a range of improved hardware specifications and software updates. The iPhone 4S comes in two colors, black and white. It is a combination of a hand-held computer, cell-phone, GPS, digital/video camera, and music player and Siri into one device, powered by a rechargeable 1432mAh lithium-polymer battery. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats, and is an important tool often used to highlight where a business is, and where it could be in the future. The following SWOT analysis looks at iPhone which is operating in consumer electronics industry. The following SWOT analysis will give one’s a clear picture of the business environment iPhone 4S is operating in at the present time. Strengths:

Siri is one of the main competitive advantages and therefore a strength of iPhone 4S. With Siri now you can use your voice to utilize the iPhone. Just talk to Siri as you would to a person: “Do I need an umbrella?” or “Any great burgers around here?” or “Where’s the closest ATM?” Siri not only understands what you say, it knows what you mean. It figures out the right apps to use to find the right answer. Then, just like a personal assistant, it answers you. Siri makes phone calls, sends messages, schedules meetings, sets reminders, and more. How much more? Just ask, and Siri tells you that, too. Siri, the intelligent assistant that helps you get thing done. The following section will outline other main strengths of iPhone 4S. •The services/products offered by iPhone are original, meaning many people will return to iPhone to obtain them. •iPhone ’s reputation is strong and popular, meaning people view it with respect and believe in it. •Being financially strong helps iPhone deal with any problems, ride any dip in profits and out perform their rivals. •A strong brand is an essential strength of iPhone as it is recognised and respected. •High quality products/services is a vital strength, helping to ensure customers return to iPhone . •iPhone ’s international operations mean a wider customer base, a stronger brand and a bigger chunk of the global market. •Development and innovation are high at iPhone with regard to their products/services, which is a sure strength in its overall performance. •Having little competition, being one of very few companies providing this service/product is a major factor in iPhone ’s performance. •Resistance to computer viruses

Weaknesses:
There are at least five major problems faced by almost all buyers of the iPhone 4S. Data services are slow, many iPhone users are reporting slow 4S data accessed. Weak battery, 4S iPhone battery is generally more hungry than the iPhone 4. Using Wi-Fi or 3G consistently, calls, and playing video or music will drain the battery very quickly. Siri works only in English. It had difficulty receiving heavy accent, as the words spoken by the English, French, and German. Besides could not catch the words well. Spots on screen, some buyers reported a yellowish color or spots on their mobile screen. This is an issue that the iPhone has ever faced before. And finally, setting too high prices makes iPhone 4S uncompetitive, which is a major weakness.

Consumers love the iPhone. That much is clear. Much has been written about the adoption of iPhone and the massive apps eco-system now surrounding it.
