According to the passaage, the difference between a jail and a prision; is that a jail is smaller and only holds who are awaiting a trial, do midemeanors or minor crimes while a prison only hold criminals that have been convisted of felonies and are serving a sentence of one year. The difference between probation and parole; is that a probation is a test from court and a parole is a convict remains under legal supervision after being released from prision.

Probation is often given to first-time offenders or offenders of minor crime rather then letting then serve jail or prision time. Probation is a test whether or not they can be trusted to abide the law after he or she served probation. Probation can last up to months to years. Offenders must abide that the courts rules while being under the influence of probabtion.
Parole is offered to those with good behavior or they have finish their sentene. Prisoners with good behavior can get parole earlier than his or hers sentence indicates. In a parole, the offender appears before a parole board evaluation and the members of the parole board will contribute many factors and decide wether or not to release the prisoner. What are the three factors judges consider when setting bail? The three factors a judge considers when setting a bail is " how serious the alleged crime is", "the amount of evidence the prosecution has", and " the likelihood that the accused will attempt to flee the area.
