What is social welfare/social services? They are services/assistance provided by the government to help those in need. They help benefit the community, including things such as education and housing. The goal of social welfare is to fulfill the social, financial, health, and recreational requirements of all individuals in a society. Social welfare seeks to enhance the social functioning of all age groups, both rich and poor. Recipients of social welfare vary throughout the world. Examples of social welfare program and services are foster care, head start, probation, financial assistance programs for low income parents, suicide counseling, and also public housing projects. They also include, parentless children, people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs, veterans, and juveniles. Agencies that provide social services are public agencies, private not-for-profit, private profit making agencies, self-help agencies, and individual professionals/independent practice. Delivering social services can sometimes be one on one counseling with an individual or family or even providing housing for a low income family, and it comes from the different agencies that help those in need. It may affect those who receive and sometimes people are delighted to receive these services. Some people may be embarrassed and don’t want anybody to know what they’re going through. On the other hand, you have some that will keep it a secret for as long as they can. There are many social issues that these agencies are able to help with. Social issues may range from affordable housing, drugs, education, rehabilitation, and also employment. Some more social issues may include depression, family life, financial needs, and also people with physical or mental disabilities. I would like to fit myself in any service agency that helps out kids starting in middle school. I also plan to accomplish my goal of becoming a social service provider by first, finishing school, and then start

The word RAID stands for redundant ray of independent disks. Raid is usually used in environments with servers or at a business with large file servers, transaction of application servers, where data accessibility is critical, and fault tolerance is required. There are 8 types of raids, Raid 0 is technically not a raid level because it offers no fault tolerance but, it operates by providing data stripping which takes the information and spreads it out over all the disk drives. However, if one drive fails than the entire raid fails. Raid 1 is also referred to as disk mirroring; it basically takes the information from one disk and stores it on multiple disks, this is great for fault tolerance because if one disk fails the information is on another disk. The only drawback to raid 1 is data access speed and the cost because there are more disks involved. Raid 5 is considerably the most commonly used Raid level simply because it provides both stripping and parity. The parity block is distributed to all of the drives making it easier to access the information or have a balanced access load. The parity in raid 5 is used if one of the drives happens to fail, to recover that drive which makes the raid 5 the most common however the only drawback to this raid level is that it has a relatively slow write cycle. Lastly, RAID level 6 which is very similar to raid level 5 but provides two parity functions rather than just one. A minimum of four disks is required to create RAID level 6.…

As globalization affects every corner of the modern world, those who fail to adopt the free market, liberalized, and interconnected system simply cannot compete on the global market. The war against communism lead by the United States allowed for the spread of capitalist ideas that would allow this global market to flourish. In simple economic terms, a global capitalist system allows for countries to use their comparative advantage in order to most efficiently allocate their resources in the form of imports and exports. This proves to be such an economic catalyst that the world has witnessed its necessity in cases such as the utter failure that is the isolationist Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea. While Adam Smith’s famous “invisible hand” of the free market would simply be too restricted under any normal communist rule, China has become the center of much debate. Whether it is a vegetarian steakhouse, a littering environmentalist, or an Argentinian Pele fanatic, such obvious contradictions seem so abstract that, “it strips the original thing of all meaning”5. Capitalism within a Communist party seems hypocritical enough. However, since President Jiang Zemin allowed a capitalist economy to join the Chinese Communist party in the 1990s, China as a nation has experienced nothing but immense progress. Do not expect an influx in communist capitalism however. The timing of China’s development as a nation coincided perfectly with the development of the utmost and paramount device of modern day globalization: the Internet.…

Jesus does not regret the Old Testament Law in the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus states in the Sermon on the Mount, that he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. Also, the law was meant to be interpreted differently in the New Testament because of Jesus. Even though at some points in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus rephrases the commandments, it does not mean that he is rejecting all of them in their entirety. So, looking right at the surface of the Sermon on the Mount, it seems like Jesus is rewriting the commandments, but if we dig a little deeper, the realization of the commandments true meanings arise.…

Being able to secure funding is a leading issue amongst most every human service organization it doesn’t seem to matter if the organization is for profit or nonprofit. Due to economic hardship funding sources seem to be few and far in between as far as availability is concerned. As a result of this many organizations have to put forth much more effort than others in an effort to compete for financial funding. Two of the major ways of retaining funding or grants and contracts most of these grants and contracts have specified goals attached to them. The Executive Director along with the appointed fund raising agents is designated to assign organizations to specific funders. It is there job to ensure the each party has the same goals and needs in common. It cost money to secure money therefore it is in the best interest of the organization in attempting to obtain funding to use labor wisely as well as making sure that time is well spent during this process. Poor management of time and labor can prove to be costly to an organization.…

It has always been my dream to have a substantial positive impact on the world that I live in. Since as far back as I can remember the desire to help others has dominated not only my thought process, but also my actions. I believe that this desire is what has led me to pursue the social work field. The job of a social worker is complicated and very wide-reaching, but I believe the ultimate job description of a successful social worker can be summed up with one word; help. The ultimate goal of the social worker is to positively affect the lives of their individual clients and ultimately the society in which they live. I have learned that social workers operate at three levels which ultimately allows them to successfully promote the change that they desire. These levels are: Micro social work, which involves working with individuals; mezzo social work, which involves working with families or other small groups; and macro social work which involves working with agencies. (Gillies, Ester.). When I first began this course, I was only cognizant of social work at the micro level. Through the readings and videos that I have had the opportunity to review, I am now aware that it is impossible to be an effective social worker without incorporating all three facets of the social work profession. My initial vision of being in an office working independently with a singular client has been forever changed. I am now aware of the immense responsibility social workers have to not only affect the individuals and families that walk through their doors, but also the impact they must have on the community and society that these individuals and families interact with daily, in order to accomplish real change.…
