This report is about bringing awareness to the Child Protective Service Agency in Kentucky known as The Department for Community Based Services. People think they are lifesavers for children that are being abused, neglected, or left dependant. I hope after reading my report you will have changed your mind and will see that not all of us parents are hurting our kids, but the state does. This report is personal to me, since my family is currently going through this and our son is now in a Residential Treatment Center. |

Child Protective Services in Kentucky
Most people, even my husband & I, always thought that Child Protective Services (CPS) was an agency that was about protecting children. When you hear a story on the news about a child being abused or killed by his or her parents, it makes you sick. It makes you wonder how any parent could do that to their child. You think someone needs to step in and protect that child or children. You probably know a friend or an acquaintance that has children and think to yourself that those children need protecting. They don’t deserve what they are going through by the hands of the ones that are supposed to love them and nurture them. I’m not saying that all children deserve to stay with their parents. I’m not saying that CPS is always wrong for what they do. What I am saying is that more often than not, parents are having their children ripped from their arms and taken by complete strangers, told they are now going to be living with strangers that will take better care of them than what their parents could do and these kids are left in the position that they have no choice about what is happening to them and they must accept it.
In our case we have an 11 year old son. My husband is his stepfather. His biological dad has never wanted to be in the picture, and... [continues]
