Check Point Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic motivation factors are needed to motivate employees to want to be great at what they do in order to be noticed by superiors so they might advance or be promoted within the organization.

Some examples of intrinsic or motivating factor would be:

RECOGNITION: Earning employee of the month and being acknowledged in front of peers by supervisor or management.

ADVANCEMENT: In my opinion advancement is the most important intrinsic factor every employee hired desires to one day be promoted to a more important position within the organization with an increase in wages.

RESPONSIBILITY: This factor is also important in motivating employees and giving them a sense of value to the company or team by placed in charge of some area of the organization.

ACHIEVEMENT: This element is in important when trying to inspire employees, presenting a certificate for a job well done and the feeling of being noticed for an action relevant to the job motivates peers to do equal or better to receive the same recognition.

WORK ITSELF: This factor is often overlooked but also plays a role in a successful organization; every employee desires a job that is interesting, presents challenges that are easily attainable and has an enjoyable mission to accomplish.

EXTRINSIC FACTORS or HYGIENE FACTORS are reasons other that the work itself that draws employees to the company; these factors include:

SALARY: In my opinion this is the highest motivating factor of all; everyone desires a good if not great paying job.

SUPERVISION: This factor is underrated in my opinion because most people are willing to work for any supervisor just to have a job but a good supervisor is able to maintain a steady workforce and avoid high turnover.
