EXP105: Personal Dimensions of Education (GSA1025F) –Week 4- Gardner’s Theory and I
Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence theories were a derivative of his own life and those around him. He desired for his children and the people around him to have knowledge and understanding of the world. He wanted people to know that everyone learns not only in different ways but at different ratios (Howard Gardner, 1999: 180-181).
Gardner spoke of Linguistic Intelligence as the ability to conceive and have awareness and affectability of using words in their accurate and descriptive forms were as Logical –Mathematical Intelligence defined by saying that some people use math to solve complexities in life. An example of this, the television show, “NUMBERS.” Here a professor uses numbers to solve crimes were Detectives normally use Interpersonal Intelligence, the aptitude to decipher tendencies, personalities, and nature of people criminally minded. Gardner’s description of Musical-Rhythmic Intelligence is of someone who uses musical forms, compositions to differentiate sounds. These are used by musicians when composing, conducting, or playing an instrument. Dancers also use this form as well as Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence, the adroitness of oneself to use body and hands in a descriptive musical. Spatial Intelligence is used by architects when drawing up buildings, furniture, and even cars. They can to project mentally something in third dimensional form, move it around add and take away targets. They are then able to apply this in dimensional drawings or even maps.
I myself believe I use Intrapersonal Intelligence. I know myself and what works personally, I believe in myself and I have a certain destination I want to reach. I know my qualifications and my desires as well as my abilities and motivations when I am reaching for a goal in life. My example for this is in continuing my education.
