The introductory part of this chapter will provide the reader with the basic information about how the entire internship program was conducted. It will serve as a guide depicting the basis on which the report was prepared.

1 Background/Authorization facts

The internship was assigned by Apex College as a partial fulfillment of the requirement of the BBA-BI degree. It was assigned to apply theory to practice and at the same time enhance the understanding and knowledge of the course contents. I was offered the position of an intern at Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited, New Baneshwor (Head Office). The internship lasted for 12 weeks. I was involved in the project titled “Consumer Banking Loan Credit File Reconciliation”. During the tenure of my internship program, the project was supervised by Mr.Anoop Shrestha and Mr. Ghanshyam Giri. .This internship definitely provided me with a realistic outlook on an integral aspect of banking. The project was insightful and truly an eye-opener.

2 Objectives of the study

• To explore the organizational culture through experience. • To gain exposure of real life situation so that they do not have many problems during the transition phase: from a college graduate to a working person.

1.3 Limitations

i. A ubiquitous drawback of most internship is that it lacks diversity. The work base is limited where only one aspect of the entire organization is almost fully understood. ii. Due to confidentiality and security reasons, I had access to only limited information on the computers. iii. The tightly secured infrastructure of divisions prohibited regular interaction with people from other department.

1.4Sources and Methods of Collecting Data

My report is inclined to a qualitative approach though.

1.4.1Primary Sources

The majority of this report is based on information gathered from primary sources. The constant interaction with the supervisor, manager, junior and senior officers, personals, etc was great help. Observation was also used as a means for additional information. And direct involvement in carrying out the work was the best source of knowledge.

1.4.2Secondary Sources

The means of secondary sources were:
