Perfectly positioned in the heart of Sophia Antipolis, Sophia Country Club boasts a fantastic location. The 4-star establishment is only 20 minutes from Cannes, and equally far from the bustling terminals of Nice’s airport. This 4-star hotel is set in a 13-hectare landscaped garden featuring 2 swimming pools and 20 tennis courts. The town where Sophia Country Club is located is called Sophia Antipolis. Sophia Antipolis, the French ‘Silicon Valley’, is a technology park northwest of Antibes and southwest of Nice. Sophia Antipolis business park employs 30,000 people across 1 million square meters of office space. Much of the park falls within the commune of Valbonne. Created in 1970-1984, it houses primarily companies in the fields of computing, electronics, pharmacology and biotechnology. Sophia country Club, originally branded as a Grand Mercure Hotel in the early 2000’s, had suffered from a lack of capital investment for many years. It was acquired from Accor group in an off-market transaction by Benson Elliot, the UK-based private equity real estate fund manager in November 2011. Alongside TIA asset management, a specialist in hotel turnaround, Benson Elliot has invested significantly in completing a comprehensive, six month refurbishment of the entire hotel complex. The hotel’s improved offering is designed to be attractive to corporate as well as fully embracing the requirements of leisure and sports travelers.
Following an extensive renovation, Sophia Country Club was officially reopened on 1 June 2012. There are now around 60 full-time employees working in Sophia Country Club. The hotel complex now offers significantly enhanced facilities, including 155 modern & deluxe rooms, 900 square meters of conference space with capacity for up to 450 delegates, a revamped restaurant and musical lounge, leisure facilities including a 600 square-meter state-of-the-art spa centre, a 20-court tennis academy and a golf academy.

There are altogether 150 air-conditioned guest rooms which are elegantly decorated and feature a balcony in this hotel. The hotel was completely renovated in 2011 and 2012 to provide top-of-the-range comfort in a designer atmosphere.
