CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION TO THE SECURITIES RESEACH AND TRAINING CENTER AND THE MARKET ANALYSIS AND FORCAST DEPARTMENT 1. INTRODUCTION TO THE SECURITIES RESEARCH AND TRAINING CENTER 1.1. History of The Securities Research and Training Center

The Securities Research and Training Center (SRTC) was first established on December 5th, 1997 under the Degree No 1038/QĐ-TTg as The Securities Science Research and Business Training Center. This government body works under the management of State Securities Commission but it was recognized as an independent legal body with its own bank account and its own seal. This authority was established due to the urgent need of an agent responsible for doing research, training and propagate information about securities to public and people participating in stock market. On August 13th, 2008, the Prime Minister signed Degree 90/2003/NĐ-CP which changed the name of The Securities Science Research and Business Training Center in to The Securities Research and Training Center (SRTC). From December, 2005, SRTC moved its head office at No 234 Luong The Vinh street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi and it also has a branch in Ho Chi Minh City. SRTC officially went to work from March, 1998 with its very first training course about securities and stock market. From this time until now, SRTC has gradually expanded its business sectors from researching to training, analyzing and forecasting stock market. Recently, SRTC has proved its role not only in applying modern knowledge and the research result into Vietnam real stock market but also in training academic knowledge and skills to a wide range of officers and investors in Vietnam.

1.2. Duties and Objective of the Securities Research and Training Center 1.2.1 Position and functions:
- The Securities Research and Training Center is the securities business organizations under the management of State Securities Commission, which has the functions of organizing and managing the activities of scientific research and training on securities and stock securities. - The Securities Research and Training Center has its own legal status, seal and separate accounts, with headquarters in Hanoi and a branch in Ho Chi Minh. 1.2.2 Duties and powers:

- Developing both annual and long-term scientific research plans for the State Securities Commission, implementing these programs and plans after they are approved. - Organizing Science Conference, providing scientific information and data on securities...
