    a. The dollar is presently weak and is expected to strengthen over time. These expectations affect the tendency of U.S investors to invest in foreign securities because the value of U.S dollar decrease will lead to the U.S company get less profit and earn less money. Consequently, U.S companies will pay fewer dividends for investors who invest in these companies. So, investors will tend to invest in foreign securities where they can get higher dividend. On the other hand, a weak currency can reduce unemployment but maybe it can lead to high inflation, and simultaneously it may reduce U.S imports and boost U.S exports or buy more goods than it sells abroad (imports exceed exports). Another thing, in the long run, trade deficits may be expected to contribute to a weaker dollar, as the economy adjusts to create the surpluses needed to repay foreign investors. However, in the short run, the relationship between the trade deficit and the dollar is weak, and the value of the dollar is determined largely by investor preferences for U.S. dollar assets.…

    The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group are two global institutions created to assist nations in becoming and remaining economically viable. Each plays an imporant role in the environment of international trade by helping maintain stability in the financial markets and by assisting countries that are seeking economic development and restructuring. Inadequate monetary reserves and unstable currencies are particularly vexing problems in global trade. So long as these conditions exist, world markets cannot develop and function as effectively as they should. To overcome these particular market barriers that plagued international trading before World War II, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was formed. Originally 29 countries signed the agreement; now 184 countries are members. Among the objectives of the IMF are the stabilization of foreign exchange rates and the establishment of freely convertible currencies to facilitate the expansion and balanced growth of international trade. Member countries have voluntarily joined to consult with one another to maintain a stable system of buying and selling their currencies so that payments in oreign money can take place between countries smoothly and without delay. The IMF also lends money to members having trouble meeting financial obligations to other members. Argentina, Turkey, and Greece have recently received such help from the IMF, but the results have been mixed.…

    India has immensely benefited form the credits granted to her by the IDA. Up to June 30, 1997, India had received massive credit assistance of $ 24,432.9 million in the form of 219 credits to finance her various development projects. This is by far the largest credit assistance that the IDA has given to any single member country so far. The first credit of $ 60 million was granted in June 1961 to assist a programme of road construction and improvement. The second credit of $ 6 million was given in September 1961 for the expansion of tube-well irrigation in Uttar Pradesh. The economic benefits of this project financed through the IDA’sloan had been considerable. The loan had provided finance for the drilling and equipping of 800 tube-wells which have irrigated 320,000 acres of land in Uttar Pradesh. This has increased the value of farm production in the area to the tune of Rs. 10 crores. The IDA granted another credit of $ 10 million for financing the flood control and drainage scheme in Punjab. As a result of the loan, surface drainage problem has been solved over an area of about 8 million acres in the state. In addition, two more credits each of the amount of $ 8 million and $ 4.5 million had been given by IDA to assist the Salandi Project in Orissa for the irrigation of 2,25,000 acres of land and to finance the completion of the Shetrunji Project in Gujarat…
