For this particular paper I have focussed on the contribution the paper has to the research community.

Short summary:
The paper discusses various reasons why there is so little research done on corporate social responsibility and sustainable development in the field of international business research. This although the interest in CSR and sustainable development is growing rapidly, since CSR and sustainable development are more and more included in the internationalization strategies of MNE’s.
A number of conceptual and methodological challenges are indicated. These are: the low amount of valid data, the difficult settings in which the research has to be done and the fact that there is a need for more innovative and unusual data gathering approaches to get a large enough basis to do research on. Some new approaches to tackling the research on the above named topics are presented in the five papers that are described in this research paper.
This paper can be seen as a starting point for further research and the articles mentioned will yield interesting findings and alternative research methods to be used while researching CSR and sustainable development.

Referee report:
Points for reviewing in the manuscript:
A possible weakness of the manuscript is the rather long second paragraph (2. Research on CSR and sustainable development), in which an overview is given of the last 2 decades of issued research papers on CSR and sustainable development. It is a well supported part on the issuing of research papers on the above named topics on the most influential journals in the world. It gives a clear overview of that has been published, and when about CSR and sustainable development, but for the reader it does
