Chapter 1: Background of the Study
After completion of 8 semesters in the BBA Program of the Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, I prepared my internship report on An Analysis of Managerial Practices in EXIM Bank Limited, Imamganj Branch, Dhaka, Bangladesh. . In the report it has gone through the standard operating procedures carried out by the bank and understood them well. The internship report has tried to understand the regulatory compliance issues proposed by Bangladesh Bank (BB).
1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE REPORT
The purpose of this report is to fulfill the internship requirement. The reason behind an internship is to gather practical knowledge about the corporate world and apply the theoretical knowledge on practical field which one has gathered throughout his educational life. The objective of the study is to gather practical knowledge on banking system and operation. This internship gives me a chance to co-ordinate with the theoretical knowledge and the practical experience the major objective of the report is to present an overview of Export import Bank of Bangladesh Limited and to know about its management system, functional and financial aspects. To provide a thorough understanding of the Managerial Practices in Export import Bank of Bangladesh Limited, Imamganj Branch, Dhaka. The report attempts to show whether the Managerial Practice followed by Export import Bank of Bangladesh Limited is in compliance with General Management and Bangladesh Bank guidelines. Credit Risk grading procedure proposed by Bangladesh Bank has also been intended to be scrutinized in the report with the existing risk rating system followed by Export import Bank of Bangladesh Limited

To present an overview and brief introduction on Export import Bank of Bangladesh Limited and to provide an idea about the products of EXIM Bank Ltd.
To find some problem and give some recommendation for increase the growth and prospect of the product of Export import Bank of Bangladesh Limited
Develop and propose some new ways in which service quality can be enhanced to attract customers.
1.3 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The scope of the study is limited to Managerial practices in EXIM Bank Limited only. There was no intention whatsoever, to focus on how the loan and advances were marketed to the customers, how the relationships were built and how each customers were followed up or handled by the Relationship Managers. Purpose of the report would be to focus on how the credit management practice is being carried out by the respective department like what is modus operandi, what is the evaluation techniques followed by the officers during evaluating a loan proposal and so on so forth. Also the report won’t cover various legal issues regarding disbursement and recovery procedures of a loan. 1.4 Methodology
Both primary and secondary data is used to prepare this report. The details of these sources are highlighted in the following.
