Subtopic 1: Describe the origins and development of the selected religious group
Description of Concrete Experience: My introduction and experience with the Holiness Church began at the age of eight years old. I lived with my grandparents and my grandfather was a minister in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) church, and prior to experiencing holiness that was the faith I was raised in. The summer of 1986 a new family moved next door. The family consisted of the mother, father and five children. They were devout church goers and they invited me to attend a revival meeting at their church. My grandmother gave me permission to attend, and upon my attendance I heard a different message from what I had become accustomed to. Yes, I was young but I knew there was a difference in the messages between the two denominations.
