INITIAL ENVIRONMENTAL EXAMINATION REPORT PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF FIVE – STOREY COLLEGE BUILDING AT UNIVERSITY OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – RECOLETOS, BACOLOD CITY Prepared for: University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos Bacolod City Prepared by: Engr. PROJECT FACT SHEET The Proposed Construction of Five – Storey College Building, which shall be located at southern most part of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos campus, is one of the many development plans of the university. The proposed college building, to be constructed at the 2.235 hectare vacant lot inside the university campus, has a total floor area of 4,326.60 square meters. The purpose of this initial environmental examination documents the potential impacts of the construction of the four – storey college building and its environmental management measures. The project consists of constructing new college building intended to accommodate the increasing number of enrolees in the university. The project has a provision on constructing a rainwater tank which will be located underneath the ground. The objective of the IEE study is to identify potential environmental impacts of the project to create strategies to avoid or mitigate negative impacts, if any, which could arise due to the implementation of the project. This report has been prepared to fulfill the requirement of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to submit an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) or Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) in the application for the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC). The content of this report is based on the Initial Environmental Examination conducted last October 2, 2012 as requested by the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos Building Committee.
