Can you think of a sport that, in some parts of the world, makes the fans go crazy and start riots? Or how about a sport that sets records in television coverage? It is the most played sport in the world. It’s played with around ball. Today, I hope to inform you on some specific aspects of professional soccer.
First off I want to give you a general idea of the rules and regulations. Professional soccer is played with 11 players from each team on the field at once, including a goalie. There are no time outs and no commercial breaks during a game. The duration of a game is 90 minutes, with 45 minute halves, and a 15 minute halftime. In addition, although this applies to every soccer player, professional or amateur you must not touch the ball with your hands, from your fingertips, all the way up to your shoulders. And you must wear cleats and shin guards while you’re playing. These are some essential guidelines of soccer but there are many more.
Now that you have an idea of the rules of professional soccer, I will continue to explain the popularity and passion of the game. Soccer is very widely played all over the world. The most prestigious international soccer competition is that of the world cup, held every four years, it lasts about a month, the most recent one being held in South Africa world cup 2010. With more than a billion viewers a day and tuned in to approximately 30 billion times, it is more popular than the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Masters, and the NBA finals. One reason many researchers believe it is so popular, especially in third world countries is because of the lack of things needed in order to play. All you need is a goal and a ball. Soccer is so much a part of so many people’s everyday lives.
Thirdly I would like to tell you about a man who is considered to be the greatest professional soccer player of all time. Pele. He played for the country of Brazil .Participating in all 3 of
