My Favorite Hobbies

There are a variety of activities that I do to have fun and to keep me busy. I’m an outgoing person who loves to have a good time. My taste in things are very unique and I love being different. We all love to have a good time by doing hobbies that we enjoy the most and I would like to talk about mine. When I’m feeling down and out—or need to be around something positive, I go to my family. I feel that family always has to come first no matter what. They’re there for you in the beginning and will be there in the end. The bond and love you have for each other will never be broken because it’s too strong. I love being around my family because I’m guaranteed a laugh that will make tears come out of my eyes. When that happens, I will instantly feel that much better. Hanging out with my family is one of my most favorite things to do. My family knows me the most; they know exactly who I am. I love making memories with my family. Whether if it's a trip to the city, or a laugh at the dinner table. I love my family and cherish each and every second with them. Golf is my most favorite sport of all time. I’m an athletic person and love being active. Golf is so fun to play, I played my whole life and will continue to. I love golf. My dad’s a golfer and he’s the man who taught me all I know. I like to golf because you can be out on the course and have time to yourself, (everyone needs that every once in a while). When it’s just you golfing, you can reflect on certain things— since golf is a slow paced game. Also, most golf courses have good scenery, considering the fact that majority of them are made in the middle of trees and hills. Nothing beats walking by yourself through nature and playing such a fun, relaxing game. Golfing with other people is always fun too. Golf is a fun sport, but it’s also very hard to perfect the skills. It definitely takes a lot of time to learn and be good at it. But

On August 26th, IHCDA is will be hosting the Indiana Housing Conference at the J.W. Marriott and are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be the distinguished photographer, Tom Casalini. We wanted to highlight his background before discussing his current project we are looking to showcase. Tom attended Indiana University and New York Institute of Photography. After working in Georgia for a period of time, he eventually returned to Indiana as Indiana’s official state photographer. ‘Ordinary Heroes’ and ‘Famous Hoosiers’ are a couple galleries that he has previously completed which attest to his ability to portray symbolic figures on a personal level. In his piece ‘Ordinary Heroes’ he captures the individuality of Medal of Honor recipients and highlights who they are as people in street clothes, just as normal people who have performed admirable services of duty for their country. In his piece ‘Famous Hoosiers’ he captured Indiana natives like Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Fuzzy Zoeller, John Mellancamp, John Wooden, Jim Davis and more to celebrate some of the most acclaimed Hoosiers and their way they represent Indiana through their industries. Tom has a studio in Zionsville we were able to catch up with him at and talk to him about…

Attention- getter: What would you do if somebody came into this classroom and pointed a gun at you as if they were going to kill you for no reason? First thing that would come to mind is, “Am I really going to die right now” and “Why is a person on campus with a gun trying to kill people?” Sad part is, an event like this has happened many times in the past. For instance, the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting as well as the Colorado movie theatre shooting that all took place within the past year[example]. These mass shootings have brought up the issue of controlling who is able to purchase guns and if it is safe and necessary to roam around in public armed with a weapon.…

Did You Know? That Skateboarding can help a person to improve in the areas of balance, flexibility, and coordination. It also helps to tone up muscles and to strengthen the heart. I believe that the more people know about skateboarding the more they will like it and try it out so that is why I’m going to tell a you a little about the history of skateboarding and the types of skateboards. The first skateboards were actually more like scooters, with the undercarriage consisting of roller-skate wheels attached to a two by four. Once the push bar of the scooter-like contraption was broken off, skateboarding was born. No one really know who invented the first skateboard because at the time in the 1950s a lot of people had the same idea and a lot of people were coming out with their own versions of a skateboard. Know a day’s there are a lot of different types of skateboards there is the regular short board it has a concave body style they use them to do difficult tricks and you see a lot of people doing stunts on them. Then there is the long board its another version of a skateboard and its longer they give you the feeling of gliding like your surfing their basically surf boards on wheels that you can use on land and then we also have what we call the slalom boards those are what a lot of racers use they can go up to 30 and 40 m/h and then their is electric boards their battery based so if you don’t want to push or do anything but steer the skateboard you have that option know. Ever since skateboarding was invented it has been through a lot of ups and downs in the beginning it was a huge success until about 1965 a slew of so-called safety experts pronounced skateboarding unsafe because of its rough body style and the fact they used clay for the wheels so there were a lot of accidents then in 1973 the urethane wheel was invented revolutionizing the sport. The new wheels provided much better traction and speed and, combined with the new skateboard specific trucks; it…
