Like a thief that sneaks up to attack you, or a rapist that readily takes away your lively hood and innocence. The issue that I am going to speak on this evening is also a silent but deadly killer As phenomenal, multi-tasking, intelligent and sensitive as women are, WOMEN can not seem to run away from a contagious cancer that threatens to wipe them out. As the Chinese proverb says give a man a fish you feed him for the day, but teach a man to fish you teach him for life. Tonight I will be teaching you for life, on the disease known as cervical cancer. What exactly is cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer occurs when abnormal cells on the cervix grow out of control. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. There are two main types of cervical cancers car- cino-mas and a-deno What causes cervical cancer?

Most cervical cancer is caused by a virus called human papilloma virus commonly known as HPV. You can get HPV by having sexual contact with someone who has it. There are many types of the HPV virus. Bear in mind not all types of HPV cause cervical cancer however you can have HPV for years and not know, it can stay in your body and lead to cervical cancer years after you are infected. Women who do not regularly have a Pap smear to detect HPV or abnormal cells in the cervix are at increased risk of cervical cancer. Other possible risk factors include:

Giving birth to many children.
* Having many sexual partners.
* Having first sexual intercourse at a young age.
* Smoking cigarettes.
* Using oral contraceptives ("the Pill").
* Having a weakened immune system.
Cervival cancer is now trending as the leading cause of death among women following closely behind breast cancer. Ladies?? have you been encountering??
* Vaginal bleeding.
* Unusual vaginal discharge.
* Pelvic pain.
* Pain during sexual intercourse.
These and other symptoms may be caused by cervical cancer.
