To inform my audience about the story of why and how the Taj Mahal was built.
The Taj Mahal is known as one of the eight wonders of the world. According to “Dictionary of Islamic Architecture,” “it‘s beauty has never been surpassed.” It is entirely made of marble and it is said to glow during a full moon. Taj Mahal also means “crown palace.” It has become a symbol of undying, eternal love to many. Jahan’s hard work and labor has brought many years of enjoyment for those who appreciate a unique history, architecture, and design.
The Taj Mahal has brought enjoyment to those who appreciate a unique history... The construction of the Taj Mahal started in 1631 by the emperor Shah Jahan. It was built for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who had died during the childbirth of her fourteenth child. Jahan had many wives, but Mumtaz was his political advisor and was always there to guide him. It caused him so much grief and sorrow when she passed that he was determined to make her the most beautiful complex in the world. It took twenty-two years to complete. Jahan gathered well renowned craftsmen to design it, it employed over twenty thousand workers and cost thirty-two million rupees.

It is said that it can be seen from the Agra Fort, which is about 2 kilometers away. The design of the temple came from another popular tomb in Delhi- the tomb of Humayun . It was four “squares” that were assembled around a central octagonal space and then covered with a dome. The concept that was used for the Taj Mahal is called Arabesque, which means that the element can stand on it’s own, perfectly integrated with the main structure.
